The link between massage and connecting with the natural world may not be immediately obvious – but to me, our bodies are nature personified!
From the air we breathe to the food we eat and the atoms that our bodies are constructed out of, we are made of the same stuff that we see around us in the natural world, and our senses are the interface through which we explore and connect with it. Whether I am giving or receiving massage, I am always aware of feeling utterly embodied.
I believe that all of our bodies, regardless of how we perceive how they look, feel or perform, are as full of grandness, magnificence and beauty as the most miraculous of our natural surroundings. We are intricate, unique and beautiful microcosms of the bigger world that we are part of, and we deserve to be as cherished as any natural wonder.
Massage is a wonderful way to connect with nature through our own physical selves and to celebrate our own natural awesomeness. A number of my clients have reported that their perceptions of their body image has improved as a result of coming for massage, which is a wonderful thing to hear.
Of course, it is also an excellent way simply to relax, take time out, and can support self-management of a number of chronic health conditions. While everyone is welcome and I have worked with a wide range of clients, I specialise in treating women with chronic pain or fatiguing health conditions such as ME, CFS or fibromyalgia; who have depression or anxiety; and/or who are balancing the demands of work, family life and space for self especially those who have children with an autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD or anxiety.
